Youth Bureau 2013 Fall After-School Employment Applications Available Monday, September 9
Mount Vernon, New York, September 6, 2013 – The City of Mount Vernon wants to remind students that the Youth Bureau 2013 Fall After-school Employment applications will be available Monday, September 9th through Thursday, September 12th from 3-4pm.
“We Know from experience that after school employment plays a pivotal role in giving young people responsibility and economic freedom,” said Mayor Ernest D. Davis. This is an opportunity for some of our young people to get a job that can make a difference in their lives today and one that will set the course for the future for many of them.”
Applications can be picked up at the following locations:
City Hall Youth Bureau 3rd floor – Room 308
MV STRONG Program at MVHS Room 237
WWDAY Program Room LL21 at Thornton High School
A.B. Davis Middle School – Guidance Office
Longfellow Middle School – Guidance Office
Youth aged 14-18 currently attending school are encouraged to pick up an application at one of the four locations. All applications must be returned to the Youth Bureau beginning Monday, September 23rd and ending on Thursday, September 26th, 2013 between 3pm and 4pm. The Youth Bureau is located on the 3rd floor of City Hall, One Roosevelt Square. from 3-4 pm.
Students must be a Mount Vernon resident in order to be considered for Fall Employment.
“The goal of the program is to develop 21st Century youth competencies related to the workplace. Through paid work experiences, participants will learn to juxtapose the basic skills that have been acquired in school with the soft skills that are learned in the workplace,” said DaMia Harris, Executive Director of the Mount Vernon Youth Bureau.
