2018 GEM Summer Academy FlyerThe GEM Summer Leadership Academy is designed to empower and cultivate leadership and character building assets in middle school girls ages 13-15. Participants are engaged in life- skills workshops, enriching field trips and community service projects.

If selected, participants can earn up to $350 this summer!

The Safe Haven Summer Program was developed to provide a fun, educational and safe environment for students ages 6-12 during their summer vacation.

Location: Parker Elementary School
Cost: $400 (Money Order ONLY)
Hours: 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Start Date: July 7, 2014
End Date: August 15, 2014

Exciting weekly field trips and enrichment workshops!
Notable field trips include: Quassey Park, Lake Compounce and Splish Splash

2013 Winter Youth Employment Applications will be Available

2013 Winter Youth Employment applications will be available Monday January 13, 2014. These job opportunities are open to Mount Vernon residents ages 14-18. Applications will be available in the following locations:

City Hall Youth Bureau –3rd Floor, Room 307 (3:00 pm – 4:00 pm)
MV STRONG Program – MVHS, Room 237
WWDAY Program — Thornton High School, Room LL21
Mandela High School – Cafeteria Room (11:00 am – 12:00 noon)
A.B. Davis Middle School – Guidance Office, Main Office
Longfellow Middle School – Guidance Office, Room 320

National Family Day 2013

Mount Vernon Community That Cares Coalition through The Mount Vernon Youth Bureau will also have a National Family Day. A day to eat dinner with your children. This is a national effort to promote family meals as a simple, effective way to raise healthier children. Come join the fun and festivities! The Mount Vernon Youth Bureau has partnered with the YMCA to expose 7th and 8th grade students to the world of STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) and encourages them to consider STEM related careers.
